Biography

Ril Giles is a woman of many talents. She is a professional art and living portraiture photographer who works with families and people with special needs.

She is also a recognized and accomplished paintographer ( digital painter) and recyclanti artist. She resides in a small village in rural Eastern Ontario, where she is is bucking the Status Quo among the in the box thinkers, and is making a name for herself with her Recylante Art and Digital photography and Paintings called Paintography.

Ril has held many interesting jobs and careers since she entered the workforce at 16 years old.

Her work history as a personal care worker with special needs people and a child birth/breastfeeding/early infant care educator, and being a mother  of two children with special needs are the foundation she uses with her photography of families,children and people with mental and physical handicaps.

Ril has been designing web pages since 2003 with HTML, CSS and Content Management System sites (word press ) experience, and is well versed in the operations of social media networking. She has been on facebook since 2007, twitter since 2008, and has been blogging on various blogging sites for over 10 years. She mentors and teaches the technical aspects to building and managing facebook pages, creating, and managing facebook groups, yahoo mailing lists/groups, building and distributing of digital newsletters, and paper newsletters/grassroots magazines.

 

 

Ril has 20 years experience in the customer service/retail industry, as a front end worker and management. Positions working directly with the public, such as front end cashier/customer service, personal shopper for blind customers, cake decorator/bakery worker, deli worker, seafood counter worker with large grocer companies such as Loblaws and Dominion ( now Metro). She has also held management positions in the food service industry in restaurants and bars, and Subway Sandwich shops.

 

She is trained to teach seminars for training new employees on positive and effective retail customer service, brand marketing and up selling sales strategies, and also has experience in business marketing and consumer survey taking and analysis.

 

Ril also has 10 years experience as a party planner, hostess/MC and karaoke hostess ,and  lounge singer on  chartered corporate boat parties on Lake Ontario/Toronto Harbour, and in hotel lounges and bars all across the GTA.

 

Ril has worked all her life helping people in one fashion or another, many of them often at the same time, and is a busy active person who needs to be doing something all the time. So, she has pursued many personal interests over the years, which enabled her to gain the experience and knowledge she enjoys sharing with others.

 

Ril lives with her husband and two children  whom they homeschool and raise rural. Together they raise backyard chickens, enjoy squarefoot gardening, photography, wood working, bird watching and pretending to be rock stars playing Rock Band as a family with their band “3 minute time out”

Slowly, due to both having physical disabilities that limit their stamina, Ril and her husband are renovating their 180 year old home and fitting the workshop ( a former Antiques sales/repair shop) into their art studio and gallery to share their art in person with the public.

Ril’s Husband is a wildlife and action/sports photographer who enjoys woodworking/ wood art  and is a (forced into) retired computer networking engineer and technician. He lives daily with severe CFS/ME and chronic pain.

Ril lives with ADHD and SAD, and the children have ADHD/PDD NOS, and  CAPD/SID. They are strong advocates of recycling, green living and being a voice for the poor, and fighting discrimination for those living with invisible disabilities.
